Heidelberg University announces a search for a lecturer in Korean Language and Studies as part of its endeavor to develop Korean Studies. The initial appointment will begin September 2016 and last until August 2017, with a possible extension. The salary will be 50% of a regular teaching lecturer with the German title of Akademische Mitarbeiter. The teaching load is up to 9 units of 45 minutes per week and includes offerings in Korean Language and Studies in the BA for East Asian Studies and the English-language M.A. in Transcultural Studies. The administrative expectation is liaison with our main partners in Korea (Seoul National University, Korea University, Yonsei University, Sogang University and Sungkyunkwan University) and includes assistance in organizing conferences in Korean Studies, conducting research programs including translations and support Korean Studies fundraising efforts at Heidelberg University. Your academic qualification would be a Ph.D. or M.A. in any field related to Korean Studies and we expect proficiency in Korean, fluency in English as well as a basic command of German. Japanese skills would also be an asset. This position is supported by a grant from the Korea Foundation.
