Free-Position Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Hawaii

The Center for Korean Studies at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa invites applications for a postdoctoral research fellowship for the academic year 2018–2019. The fellow is expected to conduct research on Korean literature or related topics. He or she is also expected to be in residence at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and to participate actively in the intellectual life of the Center for Korean Studies.

This appointment is for one year starting August 1, 2018, pending position clearance and availability of funds. Compensation for the position is a stipend of $3,750 per month with no additional benefits.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. by August 1, 2018, and should not have received the degree more than five years prior to the appointment date. Field of study should be in the arts, humanities, social sciences, or a related field. Ability to speak, read, and write both in English and Korean with professional working proficiency is desirable.

The fellowship is supported by the Core University Program for Korean Studies through the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea and Korean Studies Promotion Service of the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS-2015-OLU-2250005). This grant is to promote Korean studies internationally in higher learning institutions. The Center for Korean Studies is working to expand the university’s curriculum with Korea-focused courses and to increase its Korean studies outreach activities. Publications developed or published while funded on this grant must acknowledge the Academy of Korean Studies.
