Dear Kirsty:

During the late 70s and early 80s Dr. Gernot Prunner, now retired,
established a "Library for New Korean Religions" at the Völkerkunde Museum
in Hamburg, Germany. I am pretty sure that this wonderful collection still
exists there, but I don't know if anyone is still working on this project.
(Prof. Werner Sasse might know -- Hamburg University). As an ethnologist
Dr. Prunner made many field trips to Korea, and he collected unpublished
and rare materials in this field - materials you most probably won't find
in Australian or American libraries, and only hardly in any library in
Korea. So I think that Hamburg is definetly worth a trip ... and it happens
to be the place where the next AKSE conference will take place.

The last phone number I have for Dr. Prunner is (040) 472910. You could
also contact one of his former assistants at the Museum (then a doctoral
candidate), Professor Cho Hung-youn (his transcription) ... who is back in
Seoul, but not sure at which university .. the UNESCO staff in Seoul should
know, Cho published several articles in 'Revue de Coree' and 'Korea
Journal.' He is also a good starting point for your research.

Best!
Frank
