Dear list members,
I have another query from a colleague that I hope some of you might
be able to help with.
Kim Chi-ha's tamsi "Kogwan" mentions the fire of Taeyo^ngak Hotel in
the early 1970s, and my colleague is wondering if Kim's allusion to
the fire is more than simply a response to the widespread rumor that
it was owned by Park Chung Hee's daughter, Pak Ku^n-hye (or a close
friend or a relative) and that many of Japanese who stayed at the
hotel were in Korea as a part of kisaeng tourism. Who owned the
hotel at the time of the fire and was the owner related to or friend
or protege of Park Chung Hee? Any relevant info on the hotel would
be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Namhee
