The Department of Asian & African Languages & Literature at Duke
University invites applications for an open-rank position in Korean
Culture and Literature, effective Fall 2007.
The area of specialization is open but we are particularly interested in
candidates engaged in the study of modern/contemporary literature,
visual culture, popular culture, gender or sexuality. Candidates with
special research and teaching interests in theories of transnationalism,
postcolonialism, and globalization are strongly encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will be required to teach four courses a year
and participate in interdepartmental and interdisciplinary activities
across Duke campus. A Ph.D. degree in related fields is required; so is
native or near-native fluency in Korean. Applications must include an
application letter, curriculum vitae, and a writing sample. Candidates
at the untenured level should also send three letters of reference.
Candidates at the level of associate or full professor should submit the
names of three references to be contacted by the search committee.
