Alon,

I am not sure if it is considered as new law, but the abolition of family
registry system
in 2008 should have contributed to gender equality for various reasons. It
more or less
dissolved a traditional form of patrilineal hierarchy in law and allowed
for more (paper)
rights for women in terms of heading an independent household or being a
sole guardian
for children.
