I recently read one of Mr. Hwang Sog-yong's fairly recent novels, Oraetoen chongwon (An Old Garden?), and was much impressed by it. I liked the first volume better than the second, but for your purpose both volumes would be most useful, I'd think, because the novel gives a deeply felt sense as well as a carefully thought through critique of the hopes and dreams of those in the minjung movement.<BR>
