<P>The Korean Studies Program and the Institute of Modern Korean Studies at the 

Graduate School of International Studies, Yonsei University are pleased to 

invite you to attend the 47th Yonsei-KF Korean Studies Forum, which will be held 

on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at 6:00 pm at Room 702 of New Millennium 

Hall. The speaker is Nam-lin Hur, Associate Professor of Asian Studies at 

the University of British Columbia. His talk "Korean Officials in the Land of 

the Kami: Diplomacy and the Prestige Economy, 1607-1811" will examine the 

cultural dimensions of Korean-Japanese relations through  the eyes of 

Shin Yuhan, who observed things Japanese and projected things Korean in the 

ninth embassy in 1719. </P>
