<P>The Korean Studies Program and the Institute of Modern Korean Studies at the
Graduate School of International Studies, Yonsei University are pleased to
invite you to attend the 49th Yonsei-KF Korean Studies Forum, which will be held
on Tuesday, Sep. 27, 2005 at 6:00 pm at Room 702 of New Millennium
Hall. The speaker is Dr. Brian Yecies, Lecturer in the Communication and
Cultural Studies Program at the University of Wollongong. His talk "Slimy Snakes
Slither Surrounding Seoul: Hollywood's Battle with South Korea's Screen Quota
System, 1966-2005" will examine how the most active and integrated film
companies in Hollywood - all members of the Motion Picture Association of
America (MPAA) - have engaged the US State Department and Office of the US Trade
Representative to aim systematic retaliation tactics at South Korea's film
policy and Screen Quota System.</P>
