Center for East Asian Studies <SPAN class=490114215-13082006>at the
University of Wisconsin-Madison </SPAN>seeks an Associate Director to join our
leadership team as we work on exciting new projects such as an expanded Korean
Studies program and a new graduate level certificate in East Asian Studies. The
Associate Director is a member of the university's academic staff and the
position includes health insurance and eligibility for state employee retirement
program benefits. Duties include teaching one course per semester related to
East Asia, administration and fundraising. AA/EOE/WMA.<BR><BR><!--StartFragment --> The Center for East Asian Studies
acts as a coordinating center for teaching and research related to East Asia
conducted by affiliated faculty and students located in departments throughout
the UW-Madison campus. Academically, the Center administers an interdisciplinary
undergraduate degree and certificate program, as well as a Ph.D. minor in East
Asian Studies. The Center also provides leadership in planning and seeking
funding for the strategic development and strengthening of East Asian Studies at
UW-Madison. The Center is a recipient of grants under the U.S. Dept. of
Education Title VI National Resource Center for East Asian Studies and FLAS
programs which provide funding to support language and area studies training,
graduate student fellowships, and outreach to the broader
community.<BR></DIV></FONT>
<DIV><FONT face="Times New Roman">ELEGIBILITY<BR>- Ph.D. in the humanities or
social sciences and academic expertise related to East Asia (China, Japan,
Korea) <BR>- Working knowledge of at least one East Asian Language and
significant experience living, studying, or working in East Asia preferred.
<BR>- Strong written and oral communication skills in English required. <BR>- At
least two years of college-level teaching experience preferred. <BR>- Experience
in writing successful major academic grant proposals in the humanities and
social sciences and in fundraising preferred. <BR>- At least one year of
administrative, budget management, and supervisory experience
preferred.</FONT></DIV>
