The eldest son of Tosan An Ch'ang-ho, Philip Ahn (1905-1978) was the first and most prolific actor of Korean <SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Tahoma; mso-fareast-font-family: Batang; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: KO; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA">descent</SPAN> in the history of Hollywood and American television. My book examines not only his life and career, but also the politics of East Asian/Korean representations in American media from the 1930s to the 1970s.
