<p class="MsoBodyText" style="text-align: left;" align="left"><font
face="Arial"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial;">Professors
Salerno and Margolies will each give a
15-20 minute presentation on their experiences teaching American
History in
Korea.<span style=""> </span>Professor Salerno will focus on
pedagogy (the science of teaching), since Korean Universities have very
different
teaching styles, student and faculty expectations, and course goals
than in
American Universities.<span style=""> </span>She will briefly
discuss course content in relation to these issues.<span style=""> </span>Professor
Margolies will focus more directly on the question of
content, considering which historical narrative to choose, which
historical
schools to emphasize, and how to acquaint students with the context we
can take
for granted in the United States.<span style=""> </span>The
speakers are expecting a lively discussion with the audience about how
and what
to teach Korean students about American history.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
