Tenure-Track Foreign Faculty Positions Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies, Seoul National University

The Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies at Seoul National University invites applications for two (2) tenure-track foreign
<BR>
faculty positions in Korean Studies, one in the area of Chos?n period history, another in Korean religion.
<BR>
<BR>
Seoul National University is the top-ranked university in the Republic of Korea, as well as an emerging leading institution in the

world. Ranked 51st among the world¡¯s best universities in 2007 by The Times of London, SNU has about 30,000 students and
<BR>
2,300 faculty members. As a part of SNU¡¯s effort to promote diversity of its faculty, student body, and curriculum, the
<BR>
Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies seeks first-rate foreign scholars to place SNU on the global map. (For more

interested in applications from the candidates with a strong potential to introduce new cultural and intellectual perspectives to

the Korean studies community in Korea.

Requirements
<BR>
-Ph. D. degree in a related field.
<BR>
-Ability to lecture in English, with a strong overall command of oral and written English.
<BR>
-Potential to satisfy the same academic requirements (for research, teaching, and services) as applied to pre-tenure Korean
<BR>
faculty at SNU.
<BR>
-Willingness to assist in academic administration in consultation with the director of the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean
<BR>
Studies. Teaching load may be reduced, depending on the administrative role assumed.

-Academic-year salary disbursed over twelve months.

-Campus housing at a cost substantially below market rate.

-Reimbursement of relocation expenses.
<BR>
-Paid research leave. (One semester out of every seven semesters, or one year out of every seven years).
