<p style="font-size:13px"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">The James Joo-Jin Kim Program in Korean Studies <a href="http://www.sas.upenn.edu/koreanstudies/index.html" target="_blank"><http://www.sas.upenn.edu/koreanstudies/index.html></a> at the University of Pennsylvania welcomes applications for a postdoctoral fellowship at Penn, funded by the Korea Foundation’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. Applicants will apply simultaneously to the Korea Foundation and Penn. Selection by the university <b>does not guarantee</b> selection by the Korea Foundation, but Penn will advise the Korea Foundation of its selected candidate(s). Scholars must have received their Ph.D. on a subject related to Korea (in the humanities or social sciences) within 5 years of January 31, 2014 and cannot currently hold a regular faculty position.<b> Confirmation of doctoral degree conferral will be required by July 1, 2014, and no exception will be allowed. </b>South Korean nationals are eligible to apply only if they have permanent residency status in another country. </font></p>
<p style="font-size:13px"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><br></font></p><p style="font-size:13px"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">(1) Applicants must apply simultaneously to the Korea Foundation, and to the James Joo-Jin Kim Program in Korean Studies. The KF online application is available now until February 4, 2014. The application deadline for the James Joo-Jin Kim Program in Korean Studies is Monday, January 27, 2014. The KF application package includes:</font></p>

We will notify the foundation and the applicants of our decision by that date. When submitting the application package to the foundation, the applicant will have to attach a copy of the request (i.e. the cover letter sent to the Kim Program).</font></p>
<p style="font-size:13px"><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">(3) As soon as KF announces its decision by May 2014, the Kim program would like the requester to let us know whether or not (s)he will be coming to Penn. </font></p>
