the Republic of Korea Constitutional Court’s decision of 2007 with regard to
voting rights of overseas Koreans by focusing on a theoretical understanding of
democratic principles and the fundamental rights theory. </font></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:16pt"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12pt;font-family:'Times New Roman',serif"><font color="#000000"> </font></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font color="#000000"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12pt;font-family:'Times New Roman',serif">In the second article, the authors Kim, Cho, and
Lee investigate factors that systematically affect Korean high-school students'
academic performance and college placement, based on the analysis of data
collected, and discuss whether any of the factors constitute educational
disadvantages.</span><span lang="EN-US"></span></font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:16pt"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12pt;font-family:'Times New Roman',serif"><font color="#000000"> </font></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12pt;font-family:'Times New Roman',serif"><font color="#000000">Song’s article analyzes how cultural differences
affect native speakers’ and second language learners’ choice of request
strategy in the context of politeness, using survey data from two subject
groups—English native speakers and Korean ESL learners.</font></span></p>

that have led to the current patterns of the Korean domestic ancestral rites:
urban lifestyles, the rise of female employment, changing inheritance patterns,
and the waning importance of <i>yangban</i>

socially stigmatized during the Neo-Confucian Joseon dynasty, and draws out the
impact of such a stigmatization on the late and limited emergence of lay leadership
in Korean Buddhism.</font></span></p>

Hospital in Busan during 1950-1958, investigating how principal secondary
actors affected the hospital’s transition from a military to a civilian

Yun-bok’s artworks in his <i>Hyewon
jeonsincheop</i> (Collected Paintings of Hyewon Shin Yun-bok) as a criticism of
the reality of Confucian society, based on the “mechanism of the dual codes of
one abstract icon,” and defines his painting world in terms of the aesthetics of
ridicule. </font></span></p>

collaboration in the colonial history of Korea through the research of the
Ilchinhoe (Advance in Unity Society), a pro-Japanese society that advocated
Japanese-led reforms in early modern Korean history.</font></span></p>
