<P class=1 style="BACKGROUND: #ffffff; mso-pagination: none; mso-padding-alt: 0pt 0pt 0pt 0pt"><BR>On behalf of the Korea Foundation, I would like to extend our cordial greetings to you. I am writing to encourage your participation in our revamped ¡°2015 Fellowship for Field Research¡± program.</P>
<P class=1 style="BACKGROUND: #ffffff; mso-pagination: none; mso-padding-alt: 0pt 0pt 0pt 0pt"><BR>Since its establishment in 1992, the Korea Foundation has sought to encourage the undertaking of Korea-related research by scholars from abroad through the provision of program assistance for their onsite field research and consultative activities in Korea.</P>
<P class=1 style="BACKGROUND: #ffffff; mso-pagination: none; mso-padding-alt: 0pt 0pt 0pt 0pt"><BR>Recently, the Foundation has sought to implement an innovative approach to enhance the effectiveness of our program support for the expansion of Korean Studies research. For this, we have launched are structured Fellowship for Field Research program, in order to better assist the efforts of participating scholars to contribute to the advancement of Korea-related research and the discipline of Korean Studies.</P>
<P class=1 style="BACKGROUND: #ffffff; mso-pagination: none; mso-padding-alt: 0pt 0pt 0pt 0pt"><BR>First, the monthly stipend for research fellows has been significantly increased, to the extent of our available resources. Based on a long-term view for realizing higher quality research outcomes in more diverse areas, the Foundation intends to more fully support the field research endeavors of program fellows. With this, fellows are expected to produce more high quality research outcomes, including the publication of papers in SSCI/AHCI journals.</P>
<P class=1 style="BACKGROUND: #ffffff; mso-pagination: none; mso-padding-alt: 0pt 0pt 0pt 0pt"><BR>Second, a new lecture-research fellowship program is being offered as well. In this case, a professor who is invited by a Korean university to conduct lecture courses, in conjunction with a joint research project with Korean researchers at the host institution, can also receive fellowship support from the Foundation.</P>
<P class=1 style="BACKGROUND: #ffffff; mso-pagination: none; mso-padding-alt: 0pt 0pt 0pt 0pt"><BR>And third, the affiliate research institutions in Korea are expected to provide expanded support for our program fellows, in terms of arranging for housing accommodations, work space, and relevant facilities/equipment for fellows, in an effort to optimize the productiveness of their stay in Korea. In addition, we will favorably consider joint research projects that include the participation of scholars/researchers in Korea.</P>
