<p>This summer the Kyujanggak Institute of Korean Studies will host its ninth summer workshop for Korean Studies. The workshop aims to give graduate students in Korean Studies or Korea-related subjects the opportunity to further their understanding on research trends in various fields of Korean Studies. It will take place from June 29 to July 10, 2015 at the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies.</p><p>Morning lectures will cover research methods, trends, and approaches in 10 different fields: history of science, old documents, architecture, anthropology, religion, art, politics, history, modern literature, and law. There will be ample time for discussion, and on the last day students will have the opportunity to present their research project or other aspects of Korean studies that interest them. All classes and discussions will take place in Korean. In the afternoon, students can either take an introductory class for reading classical Korean texts composed in Hanmun or join a 4-week intensive advanced Hanmun class (see separate announcement). The course registration fee is 500 USD, but students can obtain a fee waiving grant, as well as travel support. Lunches are provided at no cost at one of the campus restaurants. If you are planning to attend both the summer school and the hanmun workshop, you need to file only one application, but indicate in the appropriate place that you will be attending both.</p>

<h4 align="center" class="gray_box_tt width_check">The 3rd Kyujanggak Hanmun Workshop 2015</h4>
<p>The Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies will host its third one-month intensive Hanmun workshop this summer. This workshop is for graduate students or advanced undergraduate students, who have completed at least one year of classical Chinese course(s) and are interested in improving their reading comprehension of original texts. Since classes will be conducted in Korean, students should also have at least intermediate-level proficiency in Korean.<br>The workshop will last four weeks, from June 29 to July 23, 2015. Seminars will take place each week from Monday to Thursday and last 2.5 hours each; the seminars mainly focus on the students’ translations of assigned texts. Therefore, in addition to class hours, students will spend at least 10 hrs a week for preparing and translating the assigned texts.<br>The course registration fee is 500 USD, but students can obtain a fee waiving grant as well as travel support. Lunches are provided free at one of the campus restaurants. Students need to provide clear evidence of basic Hanmun comprehension skills, preferably through a reference letter from their academic advisor or Hanmun instructor.<br>To apply, please complete the online application.
