Culture Conference will be held at the Department of Cross-Cultural and
Regional Studies (ToRS), the University of Copenhagen. This will be an
international conference critically analyzing all aspects of Korean screen
culture.</span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";mso-fareast-font-family:Gulim;mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri;mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi" class="" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1431924390258_7188"> The conference follows on from three previous highly successful events that
were held at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), the University
of London in 2012 and 2013 and at the University of Sheffield Hallam in 2014. </span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";mso-fareast-font-family:Gulim;mso-font-kerning:0pt" class="" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1431924390258_7161">The fourth annual </span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";mso-fareast-font-family:GulimChe;mso-font-kerning:0pt" class="" id="yui_3_16_0_1_1431924390258_7160">Korean Screen Culture
Conference will provide a forum for international scholars to reflect on the
development of transnational and transmedia practices in Korean screen culture,
through a wide-range of papers from various disciplines (film studies, Korean
studies, comparative literature, music) and to discuss possible future
directions for Korean Screen culture. There are panels on K-Pop, Hallyu (the
Korean Wave), K-Drama, documentary, and North Korean film. The conference will
see twenty-eight speakers from Europe, North America and Asia speak on seven
panels with one plenary speaker. Amongst the participants are graduate
students, emerging as well as internationally renowned scholars including
Jinhee Choi (author of <i class="" style="">The South Korean
Film Renaissance: Local Hitmakers Global Provocateurs</i>[2010]), </span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";mso-font-kerning:0pt" class="">Hye Seung Chung (author of <i class="" style="">Kim Ki-duk</i> [2012], </span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:150%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";mso-fareast-font-family:GulimChe;mso-font-kerning:0pt" class="">David Scott Diffrient, Colette Balmain (author
of <i class="" style="">Introduction to Japanese Horror Film</i>
