<p>I am pleased to share with you the program of the ninth Kyujanggak Symposium on Korean Studies.</p>

<p>It will take place next Thursday and Friday (August 18-19), and the topic this time is "Power and Dissent:</p>

<p>Understanding Korea's Past and Present Challenges through Korean Studies." Five panels and two keynote addresses</p>

<p>will look at the themes of power and dissent through history, with presentations ranging from dissenting narratives in Choson literature</p>

<p>to protests against the Sewol disaster and forms of dissent exercised by North Korean defectors.</p>
