Just bringing to your attention an upcoming visit of Professor Mark Caprio of Rikkyo University, Tokyo to our University on the 6th of March, 2019. Professor Caprio is an expert in the Korean colonial period and will present on the Ukishima Maru incident of
August 22, 1945, when a ship returning interned and enslaved Koreans to their homeland unexpectedly veered off course and exploded. The reasons for this incident are still unknown and have fuelled political reverberations in the contentious politics of memory
between Korea and Japan.</p>
