font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Since 2008, the Kyujanggak Institute for
Korean Studies has held its annual Korean Studies Symposium. With only two
concurrent sessions spread over two days, this event is a unique mid-sized,
themed conference. This small-scale allows for both in-depth discussions of
specialized topics and exchanges with specialists in many other areas of Korean
Studies.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:107%;
font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">For the 12^th annual meeting, we
have decided to change the format. We still plan to host four panel sessions as
well as keynote speeches and a keynote panel, but we have decided to forgo a
theme-designated conference style. We, therefore, invite panel proposals in any
field of Korean Studies.  We are
particularly interested in innovative and cross-disciplinary proposals or
panels that seek to discuss key issues in the field, including the current
state of the field and future prospects for Korean Studies.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:107%;
font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Preference will be given to research that
is not yet contracted for publication; papers can then be considered for
publication in any of the journals published by Kyujanggak (<i>Seoul Journal of Korean Studies</i>, <i>Hanguk Munhwa</i>, <i>Kyujanggak</i>).<o:p></o:p></span></p><p style="border: 0px; padding: 0px; margin: 0px; font-size: 10pt; cursor: text;">

abstract in Microsoft Word, in addition to a list of presenters and presentation
titles) by April 30, 2019, to <span class="MsoHyperlink"><a href="mailto:icks@snu.ac.kr">icks@snu.ac.kr</a></span>. The selection process
will conclude by the third week of May, and notifications will be sent before
the end of May. The conference will take place on Nov. 1–2, 2019, (Fri.-Sat.)
at the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies. Selected presenters will be
offered reimbursement of their airfare (up to 1.6 million KRW for Europe and
North America, up to 0.5 million KRW for Asia) and three nights of accommodation
