Dear Dr. Eggert,

I am the Coordinator of Contributing Scholars Programs at
the Modern Language Association, and I am writing regarding
two opportunities for your members to contribute to the MLA
International Bibliography and share important
scholarship in your field. The MLA is currently seeking new
field bibliographers, and we are also accepting applications
for three-year MLA Bibliography fellowships. Because we
would like to enrich our coverage of Korean literature and
language, we believe that members of the Association for
Korean Studies in Europe might welcome the opportunity to
become contributors to the Bibliography.

The MLA International Bibliography database is an
essential humanities research tool providing access to print
and electronic books and articles published on modern
languages, literatures, dramatic arts (theater, film,
television, opera, and radio), folklore, linguistics,
pedagogy, rhetoric, and writing studies. It is compiled by the
staff of the MLA Office of Bibliographic Information Services
with the cooperation of approximately 100 volunteer
specialists called field bibliographers. The primary
responsibility of bibliographers is to record the
bibliographic information of scholarly documents and to define
their subject, content, and form.

Field bibliographers for the MLA International Bibliography perform
an important service for the profession and receive
institutional recognition while deepening their knowledge of
the field, sharpening their research skills, and exploring new
areas of inquiry.

For your members willing to submit at least one hundred
citations per year over the course of a three-year commitment,
we are accepting applications for MLA Bibliography fellowships.
Applications must be received by 1 April 2021 for our
fellowships that run from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2024. On
completion of the fellowship, fellows receive a stipend of
$500 and a certificate presented at the MLA Convention awards
ceremony. For fellows attending training sessions at the MLA
Annual Convention, conference registration fees are waived.
opportunity.
