special issue, <em><b>Centering Korea in the Undergraduate Curriculum</b></em><strong>,</strong> to
be guest-edited by Professors Jooyoun Lee of St. Edward’s University and Merose
Hwang of Hiram College. </span><span style="color:black">Despite its prominence
in headlines and global popular culture, and considerable growth in
opportunities and support for academic study at major research universities,
Korea still often seems to be the odd country out in undergraduate Asian
Studies courses and programs (and even more so in the broader curricula) of
colleges and universities in North America.  <span></span></span></p>

<p style="background:white;margin-right:0in;margin-left:0in;font-size:12pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="color:black">This special issue,
geared toward non-Korea specialist undergraduate educators, seeks to “center”
Korea in the undergraduate curriculum, making a case for featuring Korean
topics in particular courses across many disciplines, providing basic context
for doing so, suggesting accessible resources and high-impact pedagogical
practices to engage students with little or no background in Korean
studies.  </span><span></span></p>

<p class="gmail-xmsonormal" style="margin:0in;background:white;font-size:12pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="color:black;border:1pt windowtext;padding:0in">We are particularly keen on receiving
manuscripts from scholars within and beyond North America that will help
decolonize the undergraduate curriculum in ways that may shift<span class="gmail-xgmail-apple-converted-space"> </span>knowledge production about
Korea, moving it from the margins of many disciplines, or to tackle colonialist
content embedded in<span class="gmail-xgmail-apple-converted-space"> </span>undergraduate
education<span class="gmail-xgmail-apple-converted-space"> </span>across
white-Euro-imperialist institutions<span class="gmail-xgmail-apple-converted-space"> </span>by
engaging with Korean topics. </span><span style="color:black">Contributors may consider how our settler teaching communities as<span class="gmail-xgmail-apple-converted-space"><span style="border:1pt windowtext;padding:0in"> </span></span>Asianists<span class="gmail-xgmail-apple-converted-space"><span style="border:1pt windowtext;padding:0in"> may contribute </span></span>to
decolonizing the academy, our institutions, classrooms, courses, or lesson
