generous support from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea and
the Academy of Korea Studies (AKS), the Korean Studies Program at Goethe
University Frankfurt will host the “Diversity in/and Korea” conference on June
6-7, 2025. The primary objective of this conference is to unpack and explore
“diversity” within the context of Korea—practically, legally, and
discursively—recognizing that the meaning of the term has become both fraught
and highly contextualized. We are particularly interested in examinations of
Korean culture, history, and/or society that apply critical and intersectional
analyses of power and power relations in Korea and beyond. We welcome proposals
for papers and panels that engage with the following suggested topics. However,
papers and panels addressing any theme related to the core conference focus
will also be considered.
