<div dir="ltr"><div><div><font face="verdana, sans-serif">Greetings, Korean Studies community!</font></div><div><font face="verdana, sans-serif"><br></font></div><div><font face="verdana, sans-serif">We are pleased to announce the call for papers for the <b>Intensive Academic Seminar of Korean Studies for Young Scholars (IAS) 2026</b>, organized by the Center of Korean Studies in Rome as part of The Academy of Korean Studies (AKS) Seed-Advanced Project. The event will be held at <b>Sapienza University of Rome</b>, Italian Institute of Oriental Studies (ISO), from <b>February 2 to February 5, 2026</b>.</font></div><div><div><p><font face="verdana, sans-serif"><strong>Seminar Overview</strong><br>The IAS aims to provide an in-depth perspective on Korean Studies, with a special emphasis on methodological and theoretical approaches. The program includes lectures, student presentations, discussions, and tutoring sessions led by distinguished Italian and international scholars. Our objectives are to enhance research methodologies, promote interdisciplinary exchange, and offer young researchers invaluable feedback from mentors across diverse disciplines.</font></p><p><font face="verdana, sans-serif"><strong>Call for Applicants</strong><br>We invite applications from young scholars in Korean Studies from various academic fields who are currently enrolled in a PhD program or hold a graduate (Master\u2019s) degree.</font></p><ul><li style="margin-left:15px"><font face="verdana, sans-serif">Selected participants will receive support for travel, accommodation, and meals (please note that if the number of participants exceeds the budget, some expenses may not be fully covered).</font></li><li style="margin-left:15px"><font face="verdana, sans-serif">Approximately 15 students will be chosen based on the selection of the best abstracts by the Scientific Committee.</font></li><li style="margin-left:15px"><font face="verdana, sans-serif">In-person participation is recommended; however, online participation will be available if necessary.</font></li></ul><p><font face="verdana, sans-serif"><strong>Themes and Guidelines</strong><br>While we especially welcome presentations on the theme,<br><strong>\u201cArchival Collections and the Shifting Perspective on Korea from the Renaissance to Early Modernity,\u201d</strong><br>we also encourage the submission of abstracts on a wide range of topics within Korean studies. Research addressing the broader field of Korean Studies or utilizing innovative methodological and theoretical frameworks is equally welcome.
