integral part of everyday communication in the digital age. At the same time,
however, it has also become a platform through which conflict, antagonism, and
hate can spread and intensify. Digital technologies afford extensive networked
connectivity, multimodal expression, and the rapid circulation and modification
of content, making it easier to simplify, categorise, exclude, and target
particular identities and groups through hateful discourse. As transnational
networks increasingly transcend national borders and emerging technologies such
as AI rapidly erode linguistic barriers, the scope of networked hate is
becoming increasingly difficult to contain.</span><span lang="EN-US"></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0cm 0cm 6pt;text-align:justify;line-height:115%;font-size:10pt;font-family:"\00b9d1\00c740 \00ace0\00b515""><b><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:9.5pt;line-height:115%">Recent hostile communication
among social media users in South Korea and Southeast </span></b><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:9.5pt;line-height:115%">offers
one example of this phenomenon. What began as cultural conflict developed into
forms of reciprocal hostility, with users mirroring one another through similar
logics and discourses. Images and texts that can be easily modified,
reproduced, and circulated in digital environments further intensified these
exchanges. Just as conflict and hostility have long circulated through the
complex historical, cultural, and geopolitical relationships among Korea,
China, and Japan, networked hate now accompanies the expanding transnational
exchanges between Northeast and Southeast Asia. The recent hostility among
publics in Korea and Southeast Asia is not simply an isolated incident, but
part of a broader transformation in how conflict is produced and circulated
through digital networks across Asia.</span><span lang="EN-US"></span></p>
