The Department of Asian Languages and Literature seeks to appoint a
full-time lecturer in Korean. The initial appointment, starting Autumn
Quarter 1999, is for up to three years, with the possibility of renewal,
subject to the availability of funding. Applicants should have at least
the M.A. degree in Korean, Language Pedagogy, Applied Linguistics, or
relevant fields with proficiency-based language teaching experience.
Applicants should be capable of teaching modern Korean at any level, and
be willing to train and evaluate graduate student teaching assistants as
well as develop new curricula and classroom materials. 

Send applications, including a curriculum vitae, statement of teaching
interest, sample teaching video tape demonstrating ability, and three
letters of recommendation to:  Chair, Korean Search Committee, Department
of Asian Languages and Literature, Box 353521, University of Washington,
Seattle, Washington, 98195-3521. Priority will be given to applications
received before November 1, 1998. The University of Washington is building
