Dear "mailbase list" members,

Hi! My name is Youngmin Kim.

This is my first time to send the email to this very active and
controversial cyberspace discussion group. I just wonder whether I am
eligible for being a member of the Korean studies. My major field is
English, and I begin to realize that I am a Korean-Korean (which means
"born in Korea but educated in the US for more than 8 or 10 years but still
keeping Korean nationality, sensibility, and experience, but with some sort
of "objectivity" and "objectification" more than any "Other" appellation),
even though I feel like I am a cosmopolitan Korean who is located in the
internationalized intellectual community. I am afraid whether I am eligible
for being a member of Korean Studies.

I am teaching courses such as "Introduction to Korea," "Modern Korean
Culture and Literature," and "Contemporary Literarary Criticism of Korea"
as a temporary lecturer at Cornell University.

If you accept me as one of your colleagues, I would like to participate your
discussion group so that I can drop a word.

Thank you. I am also a specialist in the Irish literature. All the best,
Youngmin Kim
