A tragic love story, beautifully shot, but without the sentimentality
of many films in this genre. The film tells, through humour and pathos,
but above all through an undercurrent of everyday ordinariness, of the
love between a young traffic warden and a terminally ill photographer.

'Christmas in August' features Suk-Gyu Han and Eun-Ha Shim, currently
two of the most popular actors in Korea. It received rapturous reviews
when shown at the Cannes and Fukuoka festivasls, and won the
prestigious Blue Dragon Film Award for Best Film. It has also received
awards for Best New Director, Best Actress and, for the late Young-Ghil
You, Best Photography.
