Subject: Arirang
Good morning -- I got your name and e-mail address from Kazuko Ikeda,
who tells me you might be able to help me obtain some information
about the origins and meaning of Arirang.
I'm planning a concert with the thems of "Asian/Pacific Heritage
Month," and one of the works I want to perform with the band is
"Variations on a Korean Folk Song," based on Arirang. There is no
program note extant that tells the significance of the song or its
lyrics, and I would like to provide a comprehensive program note for
our audience. Can you help me or guide me in the right direction?
I'd be grateful for any help.
Thanks,
Michael Burch-Pesses
