A good place to look for info on corpus linguistics might be at the Center
for Language & Information Development (CLID), Yonsei University, at
lexeme.yonsei.ac.kr - the new Yonsei Korean Dictionary is based on the
Center's corpus. This site has links to many other efforts related to
computers and language, both Korean and international.
You could search for language corpus: "malmungch'i" at simmani or one of
the other Korean search engines.
In hardcopy, I have a North Korean word frequency list, and a study of
elementary school textbook vocabulary that might be relevant. I can send
the bibliographic details if you need. I've also seen, but don't have, a
rather strange frequency list of syllables in bookstores that might be nice
if someone is working on optical character recognition or more esoteric
subjects...
------
Regarding a previous topic on these pages, a furtive check of the Yonsei
Dictionary indicates "han'gUl" may refer to Korean language as in "han'gUl
irUm" - a "pure Korean" name rather than one derived from hanja or a foreign
language name. I think this may be common usage. I believe the examples in
the Yonsei Dictionary are from the Yonsei CLID corpus. Does anyone know of
a link to the corpus that one can use to check an individual word?
