Lord help us. Anything but this!

I don't know all the details because it barely earned a mention on a news 
wire just a moment ago, but today (Thursday) afternoon the Grand National 
Party had a meeting of its policy committee at which they criticized the 
new Romanization system, saying it would not help English speakers 
pronunce Korean properly and among other things might ruin the World Cup. 
They propsed adopting Kim Bok Moon's "English style" system 
(chOlsu/churlsoo, kimch'i/kimchee) and that a(-nother) hearing be held on 
the issue. This is just their policy committee, so it could come to nothing.

Kim Bok Moon pulled the mike out of my hand while I was speaking at the 
last Ministry of Culture and Tourism hearing June 17th, said I had no 
"taepyosOng" because I didn't represent an organization, and accused 
everyone on the panel of conspiring before the event to make him look bad 
when everyone but him agreed that Romanization was not "Englishization."

If it ever comes to a National Assembly hearing, imput from this list 
would make all the difference. Hopefully it won't come to this.
