Not to beat a dead horse but...on the subject of tenderizing meat by
pounding.  When human sacrifices were offered at native Hawaiian temples
(heiaus), the victim was hung upside down and after collecting his sweat
he was pounded with a stick to tenderize his flesh for the feast that
inevitably followed.
