Like I said, more than a few people involved in the Romanization proposal
process watch the Korean Studies list closely. Less than two hours of my
post I've been informed of some problems with my earlier post.

People are warning me that I have already invited legal wrath upon my poor
little head. Before things get out of hand I should apologize for stating an
untruth in discussing the Romanization proposal of the most respected Mr.
Kim Bok Moon. I was completely out of line and offer my sincerest apologies.
It was not my intention to defame or dishonor. Shindang-dong is not
Sheendahng-dohng. It's Shindahng-dohng. The Yale /i/ becomes "ee" only when
it is not followed by a consonant, as in Kimchee. Everyone please forgive me
for forgetting this obviously much thought-out detail.

Some more corrections: Unlike earlier t'oronhoes held on the grounds of
KyOngbukkung, the one this coming Saturday will be in the National Museum
building and not in the National Folk Museum building, both within the walls
of KyOngbuk Palace. Also, the official "host" of the event is Dr. Shim
Jae-gi of the NAKL, while Dr. Kim Sejung is actually running the actual
panel. I don't know what this is called. Also, on the technical side, it's
not the KugOsimUiwiwOnhoe but the KugOsimUihoe that meets to deliberate
about the merits of the NAKL's proposal.

Sorry to bring up such an unfortunate subject during such a great week for
Korea.

Peter Schroepfer.
