Dear James: 

Sorry to hear the UK will now have to go through the pain of having the
Koreans let their money flow along the hierarchy of their perceptions of
prestige and political considerations.  This has been going on for years
in the US.  While at least one California recipiant of Korean largess
blatantly ignores its mandate to do anything about Korea, there are other
cases that have worked very well...so buck up, its an addition to general
possibilities for Korean Studies in spite of the serendipity.
