University of Chicago seeks instructor of Korean language at lecturer
or senior lecturer level. Initial appointment of two years, renewable,
to
begin fall 2001. Candidate should be prepared to provide instruction
from
elementary through advanced (fourth-year) levels and expect to lead the
Korean language program, supervising course assistants, developing
curricular materials, and overseeing study abroad programs.  Send cv,
three
references, sample plans for a class at the elementary and third-year
levels, and a statement of teaching philosophy that also addresses
candidate's approach to the four basic skills as well as to classes
consisting of both heritage students and first-time learners. A
20-minute
videotape demonstrating instruction at the third-year level strongly
recommended. Candidate must have at least an MA. Preference given to
candidates with formal language pedagogy training and/or linguistics
background. Preference will be given to applications submitted by
January 15
