The 6th AKS Invitational Korean Studies Lecture
 
The Academy of Korean Studies is pleased to announce the 6th AKS
Invitational Korean Studies Lecture where we invite distinguished
scholars overseas for a symposium on issues related to Korean studies. 
The presentation will be held at the Academy, Sôngnam (Seongnam), on
October 9 (Mon), 2000, 2:30pm. The title of the lecture will be "The
Background of Distortion of History in Japanese School Textbooks."

There will be two presentations, 
1) "Emergence of the Right Wing History Textbook and Its Official
Approval by Japanese Ministry of Education" by Tawara Yoshibumi. 
Mr. Tawara Yoshibumi is Secretary General of an NGO organization
"National Network for Children and Textbooks" 

2) "The Problems Concerning Korea-Japan Relations Described in the 'New
History Textbooks' - a Comparison with the Current Textbooks" by
Kimishima Kazuhiko. 
Dr. Kimishima Kazuhiko is a Professor at Tokyo Gakugei University.

The lecture will be given in Japanese and will be translated into
Korean.

We welcome all interested scholars, students, and researchers to this
presentation.  Please RSVP in advance. 

Place: The Academy of Korean Studies, Grand Auditorium Seminar Room (2nd
floor)
 50 Unjung-dong, Sôgnam-si, Pundang-gu, Kyônggi-do.  
Transportation: We provide a shuttle bus service to and from the
Indôgwon (Indeokwon) Subway station (Blue line; #4 line; use the no. 2
exit, Sôngnam (Seongnam) direction).  The bus leaves at 2:00 p.m. at the
Indôgwon (Indeokwon) station for the Academy and the bus will be waiting
after the program to take people back to the Indôgwon (Indeokwon)
station. For those wishing to drive, please contact the number below for
directions.
