FULBRIGHT FORUM!!

Fulbright in Seoul (the Korean American Educational Commission) is pleased
to invite you to attend the Fulbright Forum for September, which will be
held on Friday, September 14, 2001, at 6:30 p.m. at the Commission offices
in Mapo.

The speaker this month will be Ms. Andrea Rosenberger, Fulbright research
grantee to Korea. Ms. Rosenberger, a fiber artist, completed her B.F.A. at
the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her M.F.A. at the Cranbrook Academy
of Art. Ms. Rosenberger, a Korean adoptee, is in Korea doing research on
the effect of historical Korean textiles on contemporary Korean fiber art.

Ms. Rosenberger will show her artwork and speak on: "100% Korean: The
Effects of Place and Space." Ms. Rosenberger says, "The phrase '100%
Korean' suggests that something about the person, object or trait described
is somehow from/of or is completely Korean. However, as so often is the
case, there are a plethora of definitions to what it means to be 100% and to
be Korean. This lecture will illustrate how space and place can shape,
alter and redefine things that are 100% and things that are Korean."

This Forum is the first of the Fulbright program year, and is an opportunity
to greet the new Fulbright scholars and graduate students who have arrived
over the summer. We welcome to the Forum all Fulbrighters, senior lecturers
and junior researchers, as well as Board Members, Fulbright alumni, Peace
Corps alumni, Korean studies scholars, foreign graduate students, and other
friends of Korea and members of the Fulbright family.

The presentation will be followed by a buffet reception (in lieu of dinner.)
We hope many friends will come to enjoy the lecture, the discussion, and the
food.
