Dear Mark,

How are you? As you know, I am not a Korea history specialist but I do
teach a course (at Wisconsin-Madison) each semester on East Asian
civilization with a large piece on Korea. I almost always have Korean
students on the lookout for "mistakes," such as the name of that infamous
sea between Korea and Japan. I would like to add a question to the
discussion that comes up in my class: In the Mongol attack on Japan, what
was the role and attitude of the Koreans? Of course, I teach that they
were compelled to supply troops and transports, etc. Does the historical
evidence support this position?

Regards,

Ed
