Members of Koreaweb may find useful the Japan Focus website.
Japan Focus provides access to important contemporary writing about
Japan, Northeast Asia and Japan in the world. It presents Japanese
and international perspectives on contemporary Japanese politics,
U.S.-Japan-Asia relations, economics, society and social movements,
war and peace, and historical memory among other issues. Japan Focus
provides translations from Japanese journals and newspapers as well
as original contributions. Among the issues taken up in recent
articles are Japan-North Korea-U.S. Relations, Zainichi Korean
consciousness, Japan and the Iraq War, Japanese commentary on U.S.
and Japanese foreign relations, 9/11 and Pearl Harbor in American and
Japanese memory, the atomic bomb and nuclear warfare, Rape and the
Status of Forces Agreement, teacher suicides and contemporary
education, Constitutional revision, and the dispatch of SDF forces to
Iraq. Authors whose work appears at Japan Focus include Asai
Motofumi, Herbert Bix, Bruce Cumings, John Dower, Ito Ruri, Chalmers
Johnson, Kang Sangjung, Laura Hein, Gavan McCormack, Medoruma Shun,
