Dear Mr. Park:

I just came across your posting on the Internet dated
Aug 25, 2002. In it, you request information about
sources of statistics on "crimes" committed by USFK
personnel in Korea. I am writing you now because I
also am interested in this subject.

I work as an English teacher in Seoul and am
interested in doing more research on this subject.
According to a press release by the USFK, the crime
rate of Koreans against Koreans is about 10 times that
of USFK personnel against Koreans. Like you, I have
tried to get accurate information from any legitimate
source to determine for myself if that is really true.
If it is true, then it certainly raises serious
questions about the motives of certain Korean "civic"
groups who constantly rail against the crimes of USFK
personnel.

A few weeks ago, I wrote to the webmaster at the USFK
website and asked him to forward my email to the
appropriate person. However, I have heard nothing.

No doubt you have done some research on this issue. I
was wondering if you have come across any
authoritative source of information. I have been
collecting articles now for several years and would be
willing to share anything that I have.
