Dear Colleagues,
Once again the Center for Korean Studies at the University of Hawai'i and
the East-West Center will be sponsoring a field trip to study Korean
culture and society. Many of you have colleagues who would benefit from
this introduction to Korea. This is not for Korean specialists but for our
colleagues in other areas who really should know something about Korea to
enhance their teaching. Please share this with them.Thank you.

Institute on Korean Culture and Society
May 24 - June 21, 2004
Four-week institute, two weeks in Hawaii and two weeks in Korea for 20
faculty. This will be the fourth Korea Institute program. Because of Korea
Foundation requirements, priority is given to those who teach courses on
East Asia that do not adequately address Korea. Led by U.H. Professor and
Director, UH Center for Korean Studies, Ned Shultz. Hosted in Korea by
Seoul National University and Kyongpook University in Taegu. Cost:
roundtrip airfare to Honolulu and $700.
