Dear colleagues,

the East Asian Institute at the University of Vienna is rapidly expanding
its Korean Studies programme. In connection with this, we have decided to
revitalize a tradition that has almost been lost after the closure of the
Korea Institute at Humboldt University.

In November 2005, we plan to hold one or two Korea Study Days
(Koreawissenschaftliche Tage) in Vienna, and hope to continue to do so
every year. The Korea Study Days are primarily designed to bring together
Korea specialists from German speaking countries for a workshop-style
conference, to present work in progress or new results, and to encourage
networking and academic exchange. In the past, we had a number of
distinguished guests from other countries, too, and would like to encourage
everybody who is interested to come and join us. The working language will
be German.

So far, we have no funding or logistical assistance available to support
participation, although this might change in the future. However, Vienna is
a beautful city and has only recently been classified as one of the places
with the highest quality of living worldwide. This alone should be enough
reason to come, and there is much more.

I would therefore like to ask all interested colleagues, in particular
those from German speaking countries, to contact me at: rfrank at koreanstudies.de

Best wishes,

Ruediger
