University Lecturership in Korean History

UNIVERSITY LECTURER: Salary up to £47,078 p.a.
The University proposes to appoint a University 
Lecturer in Korean History in association with 
Wolfson College. The appointment will run from l 
October 2006 or as soon as possible thereafter. 
The Lecturer will be required to give lectures, 
classes and tutorials in Korean premodern history 
(up to c. 1800) and in Korean language; to carry 
out research, examine, supervise graduate 
students; and to play a part in the 
administrative work of the Faculty of Oriental 
Studies. The successful candidate should hold, or 
expect to hold by the start of the appointment, a 
doctorate in the field of Korean History, and be 
able to provide evidence of their ability to 
teach Korean history at university level. The 
successful candidate will have a primary 
expertise in Korean, with a competence to teach 
and supervise over a wide range of topics within 
the field, at undergraduate and graduate levels, 
including teaching Korean language. (S)he will 
have a strong command of Korean language, both 
modern and premodern, a good command of Japanese 
language, and demonstrable teaching competence in 
Japanese and East Asian history. Further
