There is/was of course the big musical The Last Empress.
Big in Korea, anyway. And in the US, I think?
In London it got some snide reviews, upsetting Koreans.
To a non-specialist the plot was unfamiliar and complex,
but I thought it was a terrific production.
Others on this list will know far more about this.
Perhaps it was just too early (late 90s) for the hallyu?
