[KS] Chinese "control" over Choson

Dear Colleagues,

Professor Ch'oe's gentle warning several emails back may be applied to
Ryukyu, too. In recent years Okinawa-born historians and the Tokyo-born
historian Watanabe Miki have shown that governance in post-1609 Ryukyu was
an extremely complex matter. Gregory Smits' "Visions of Ryukyu" is also
recommended for those who are interested.
