  - Invitation -

The Institute for European Union and Law Research Institute of the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies are jointly hosting an international conference entitled "EU-Korea Relations: Themes and Perspectives" on June 2, 2006. The Conference is aimed at providing a platform upon which distinguished scholars and experts from local and abroad can present and exchange their views on the current state and future prospects of EU-Korea relations.

As is widely recognized, Europe has always been the pioneer of regional cooperation and integration in the contemporary international politics and is committed to developing a far-reaching strategy designed to turn the region into a true sense of regional community. Upholding such an objective, the Conference will try to deal with wide-ranging issues, such as EU's policy towards North Korean human rights problems, the applicability of a European model of regional integration to the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia, etc.

We are confident that this Conference will contribute significantly to fostering more cooperative relations between Korea and EU by facilitating the exchange of ideas and visions among prominent scholars and experts working in both academic and practical worlds to develop insights into the fields.
We would like to cordially invite you to the Conference and look forward to seeing you there.
       Thank you very much.
