Salary Range: $62,985 - $87,907 pa plus 17% super
6% Salary Increase 16 November 2006

The Faculty of Asian Studies seeks to appoint a Lecturer or Senior  
Lecturer in Korean Studies.  Applicants will possess a PhD relevant to  
our teaching and research missions. These missions include the  
languages, literatures, histories, societies and cultures of East,  
Southeast and South Asia. Pacific Studies has recently been added as a  
disciplinary area.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a research and  
publications record in Korean studies and will be able to assist in the  
promotion of Korean studies at the university. Applicants with  
strengths in religion, literature, linguistics or a field in pre-modern  
Korean studies are especially welcome.

Teaching responsibilities will include teaching the Korean language and  
teaching in the candidate’s specialist field. Experience in teaching  
the Korean language is highly desirable.

Applicants able to demonstrate an ability and willingness to supervise  
students at Honours, Postgraduate and Research degree levels will be  
favoured.

Commencement is negotiable but preferably the successful applicant will  
take up duties in February 2007. This is a three-year fixed period of  
employment, with the possibility of conversion thereafter to standard  
on-going employment.
