INVITATION
Dear fellow professors and researchers,
already half of the year has passed by; and it is only a step away from the season to change into fall. I hope all of your work and research is successful.
After the KORUS Free Trade Agreement (FTA) was signed at the beginning of this year, the Korea-EU FTA which will integrate the largest market in the world, Europe and Korea, is now taking place: the 3rd negotiation has been just concluded. Especially, Koreas heavy industries focusing on the car industry and EUs trade as the largest exporter of dairy products in the world is much of reciprocal relationship, and its influence on both countries industries will be extensive. If the KORUS FTA was more of 1:1 negotiation, Korea-EU FTA is similar to 1:27 negotiation; thus, the process and conclusion for the FTA will not be drawn out that easily. Therefore, we have agreed that this is quite appropriate time and chance to check over the negotiation process of Korea-EU FTA, and present research results on Korea and EUs politics, economy and social fields.
The theme of this colloquium is Perspectives of the Free Trade Agreement between Korea and the European Union. We believe that this will be a great arena for all researchers of the European studies discussion on their study results, which covers politics, economy, and social areas. Especially, we are expecting lively discussions on negotiations on agriculture and the political economy of the Korea-EU FTA.
We would like to welcome all of our members to KSCES, and anyone who have interest in this colloquium. I hope all of you will participate this session and show us your opinion and perspectives of the future.
Once again, I wish all of you best of luck with your works and achievements.
