Call for Papers

Death, Mourning, and the Afterlife in Korea: Critical
Aspects of Death from Ancient to Contemporary Times

We are soliciting potential contributors to an
interdisciplinary volume on death, mourning and the
afterlife in Korea to be published at a major academic
press.  We envision the volume covering both premodern
and modern aspects of death and particularly would
welcome contributions in the following areas:

Geomancy and the selection of grave sites

Mourning rites for women in Chosŏn

Mourning rites in contemporary Korea

Burial practices in contemporary Korea

Monuments for national heroes in contemporary Korea

Of course, other topics are also welcomed.
